Practicing

Learning to play any instrument is not a skill you acquire just showing up for lessons each week.  It requires practicing every day (or almost every day). Especially for young children this is a learned skill and discipline. Parents are a critical piece of the puzzle in teaching kids how to manage their practice time and reminding them to practice each day. They will also need encouragement and guidance reading lesson notes in the beginning.  It’s ok if you can’t read music.  There are still lots of ways you can help: read through the lesson notes with them to remind them what they are practicing this week. While they’re learning how to practice, sit with them and encourage them not to rush through their assignment.  Let them teach you what they learned this week.  More than anything it’s important to help them develop a routine and be their cheerleader!

Performance

Our studio has grown so much in the last couple of years.  This past May we celebrated our 2nd annual recital!  These performances are relaxed and fun. What’s most important is for your child to have an opportunity to practice performing, build their confidence and celebrate their hard work with a community of musicians. The students work hard and this is a great opportunity to share the music they love with others; that’s what music is all about!
