Mini Musician Class (ages 3-5)
Beginning music lessons early has many lifelong advantages. By studying music children learn to recognize patterns, which will aid in their understanding of math. Piano is also beneficial in developing hand-eye coordination and finger strength and flexibility. Periodically I offer a Mini Musicians class for preschoolers - a weekly 45 minute lesson. This is a no-practice, relaxed class. It’s a great introduction to music. We will sing, explore sound, learn about rhythm, move to music, play games and beginning piano skills and songs. This class has between 3-5 students so your child will benefit from the group and also receive lots of personal attention.
Partner Lessons
For established students I offer a discounted partner lesson. In this type of lesson your student will have a 60 minute lesson. The first or last half hour will be spent only with me, the other 30 will overlap with another student’s lesson. This will give them the opportunity to learn together through creative game play and have a partner for duet work.

Traditional Lessons
These are traditional in the sense that they are one-on-one with a teacher. However, my lessons are probably not what you remember from your childhood: chords, scales, new pieces, repeat. I do keep a loose routine, but I also incorporate games, improvisation training, rhythm instruction (percussion instruments), aural training, sight-reading and sight-singing. Of course we still learn our scales and chords and play lots of Beethoven and Chopin. We also play jazz, blues, pop, show tunes, movie music….I try to introduce a good sampling of lots of musical genres. More than anything, no matter what style of lesson you choose, the goal is for your child to be excited about music and to anticipate each week as we do something new together!
